How the television program Slovak Spectrum was born
The Ottawa branch of the Slovak League has always been active in promoting Slovak culture. In 1978, it established the monthly television program Slovak Spectrum on cable TV, with Emil Purgina as its first producer.
From 1982 until 2002, the production was led by Mrs. Margita Moore, after which the responsibility was passed on to George Frajkor. The program was also supported by assistants Lívia Koneval and Anne Ladouceur.
Anne Ladouceur later continued in the leadership and production of Slovak Spectrum with immense dedication, enthusiasm, and love for the project, guiding it for over two decades, all the way until 2024. She then passed the baton of leadership and production to her younger colleague, Charlotte Smulders.
Charlotte Smulders worked for several months as an assistant and volunteer together with Ms. Ladoucer, and at the end of 2024 she officially took over the management and production of Slovak Spectrum TV program. Together with a team of devoted volunteers, she continues this important work, ensuring that the program lives on and that Slovak cultural heritage in Canada is preserved and shared with future generations.
